The results of osun state gubernatorial election gave a short lived hope to the community of opposition in Nigeria, but the public endorsement and shower of praises on President Bola Tinubu, who is a national leader of the APC by the elected Governor Ademola Adeleke, a leader and major stakeholder in Accord party since his defection from the PDP, has sent a message of alignment to the public and uppercut to others in opposition camps.

The emergence of Senator Ademola Adeleke as Governor of Osun state some years ago was due to the strife, power play and disagreement between Former Governors; Gboyega Oyetola and Rauf Aregbesola, belonging to the same party but of different caucus and ideologies. The bitter rivalry made the Aregbesola camp "The progressives" worked against his own party in favor of the opposition, Ademola Adeleke.

Fast forward to 2026, Rauf Aregbesola became the National Secretary of ADC and major supporter of Najeem Salaam who emerged as the flag bearer of the party into the election, but the results of the election showing less than eighteen thousand votes in favour of ADC across Osun state, have made many political analyst concluded that Rauf Aregbesola is a lightweight politician who overestimated his political influence.

The statement of Governor Ademola Adeleke " I will go all out for President Tinubu in 2027, big time. And when it’s time to campaign, however he wants me to come in, I will do it” this statement and others he has made in the past should serve as an eye opener that the vote he garner in 2026 (Over 500 thousand) will be redirected towards the candidacy of the incumbent Nigeria President, who already has over 26 State governors in his political camp.

With the official commencement of political campaign and public mobilization, the political atmosphere is about to spiral into house-to-house mobilization of voters in favour of flagbearers of different political parties, cross carpeting of disgruntled elements from one party to another and internal power tussle among politicians whose stomach interest comes before constituency and national development.

Nigerians should pay attention to propaganda and fake promises that is about to fill the air from different candidates and party representatives without genuine intention. This is the time to ask questions, the time to scrutinize, separate the opportunists and uncultured political good boys from disciplined men of valor, whose track record of impacts can be verify.

The movement has began, some have pitch their tent with the city boys, some are proud to be village boys, some are still battling litigation before deciding their location, and others feeling unconcern but praying for visa to other countries not to be caught in between crossfire of political foot soldiers and accidental discharge by men in uniform.
