The activities of kidnapping, herders ambushing farmers and killing them, ritual killings and other symptoms of insecurity is getting worst on a daily basis.
In Ondo state, reports of incessant killings of farmers and people living in rural communities are increasing across the Local Government of Ondo state. Early this month, farmers across Akure North Local Government besieged the Governor's office at Alagbaka with corpse of killed farmers to checkmate the released statement of the State Government denying the massacres of farmers and attack on farming communities in our dear state.
This has become a daily trend which I can link to guerrilla warfare tactics of terrorist currently ransacking and aggresively murdering in cold blood women, men and children of Plateau state and Benue state, but using Ondo state as a prototype of their evil plans for Yoruba land.
The recent attack in plateau state with army formation closed to the attacked villages have sparked calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack among reasonable and patriotic citizens of Nigeria. Monday’s gunmen attack on Zike and Kimakpa communities in Plateau State’s Bassa Local Government Area by gunmen, which claimed a reported 51 lives, have sparked concerns due to both communities’ proximity to the 3 Division Headquarters of the Nigerian Army.
The attack came less than two weeks after armed men also struck multiple villages in the Bokkos area of the state, killing 52 people.
The widespread insecurity and stealth war of land grabbing should serve as a wake-up call for the youths especially the ones of Yoruba extraction to take the matters of security serious rather than partying, you can only party when there is peace!
Eyewitness reports have shown that these killers have attacked mourners, wedding guests and religious gathering, showing their lack of respect for your values, culture, religion or traditions.
Security job should not be left for the Police or Army or Amotekun alone, but a collective and community based approach should be designed adopted built on intelligence gathering, involvement of individuals and groups.
There is need for the Federal Government to review the current laws on possession of firearms, Vigilantes, Amotekun and OPC should be equipped with the latest arms and ammunition so that they can serve as a first response whenever this attack is arising in a community without a police station or army post.
