Recently, I came across a mind shifting question and analysis by one of the reasonable sons of owo who recently created a WhatsApp platform to discuss Owo Political future and interest of Ondo North Senatorial district (Com. Bash Adeola).

Using the recently appointed Minister of Finance for state as an example of Akoko politics of self preservation and community empowerment to negotiate a positive future for the general development of Akoko and it terrains, while Owo politicians are scrambling for recognition and crumbs that fall off the political dining table of Nigeria.

Owo kingdom is historically known to be an abode of intellectuals, expatriates, legal luminaries, ambassadors, professionals, development driven politicians who are key players, movers and shakers of national political discourse whose contributions have been adopted for national and international development.

In recent times, there seems to be a change in narrative, trajectory and political dynamics, with the current crops of self serving politicians from the region not focusing on integrating the youths in federal government open opportunities for growth and capacity building nor influencing projects that is capable of uplifting the region in terms of infrastructural development, but recruiting media good boys and thugs to promote their ambitions for 2027.

With two ministerial portfolios from Akoko in the present Federal Government Executive Council and Project executive role in the Southwest Development commission (SWDC), can Owo youths and people depend on the present crops of politicians to deliver the dividend of democracies to the constituents?

With the 2027 general elections drawing closer on a daily basis, banners and posters of politicians with and without ideologies springing up across every corners, while the people are too impoverished to ask questions as they are focused on earning their daily bread in the face of the widespread hunger and political induced poverty for easy manipulation and control.
