From the perspective of a concerned Nigerian

A country of more than 250 tribes characterised with ethnic division, nepotism, maladministration with unending rise in unemployment, weak institutions and jungle leadership style where the strong feast on the weak, and political leaders trample on the electorates who are supposed to be served.

The current economic and insecurity situation of giant of Africa is pointing to the direction that the "gi, " in the word "giant" has been eaten up by political cockroaches and reduced to an ordinary ant by corrupt masters.

*WAS NIGERIA FOUNDED AS A COUNTRY TO KEEP THE PEOPLE IN PERPETUAL POVERTY AND HARDSHIP?*

Nigeria, a country with rich human resources and abundance of natural resources but founded on deception, corruption and exploitation. Since the amalgamation of the southern Protectorate with the northern protectorate in 1914 to form what's called Nigeria today, the rhetoric is the same, with units of steps forward but hundreds of steps backward when compare to other nations.

Having transitioned from indirect rule to era of governance where the people are subjected to military decree and edicts. The country survived post independence crises and civil war, but I doubt if Nigerians will survive the war of hardship and poverty that the present government is serving the populace.

With banditry activities becoming a daily occurrence and spreading across the six geopolitical zones, and terrorists overpowering military officers and taking over barracks and other military formation in the North East.

The unending bloodshed in Benue state by terrorists camping in the forest and disrupting farming activities is threatening the food security of the nation, and the recent incursion of Kwara state by Fulani armed bandits ransaking the state across local government areas has thrown the people of the state into panic and also raising fear among the Yoruba people of Southwest.

In the month of September 2025, A combined team of Nigeria police officers in Katsina-Ala LG of Benue state were ambushed and massacre by terrorists with their ammunitions taken away by this assailants.

Also in Bornu state, Nigeria military officers suffered heavy blow in their barrack located in Darul jamal by invading terrorists who took over the Barack and cart away ammunitions, with dozens of soldiers fleeing into Cameroon (according to source).

As part of some northern state governors effort to curb banditry, murder of innocent civilians and kidnapping, a peace meeting was organized with heavily armed bandits displaying weapons and ammunitions in a country that forbid possession of fire arms.

For an example, the Governor of Katsina state (APC), Dikko Radda and communities in the state organized a negotiating meeting with bandits leaders under the term "kinetic approach to resolving insecurity" described the deals as “locally-made community-owned initiatives"

where wanted banditry kingpin known as "Babaro" that led the murdered of 32 worshippers in a mosque and committed other atrocities attended peace talk without consequences.

This display of ammunitions in the presence of security forces is not only illegal and unlawful but sending indirect message to the people that the government cannot protect them and Nigeria security forces weak.

In the time past, similar peace efforts in Katsina and Zamfara between 2019 and 2021 failed after armed groups reorganized and expanded their network, continued to terrorize farming communities and raping of women, which was later given an ethnic colouration of Fulani herders versus Hausa farmers clashes.

Although, the President Tinubu led government have engineered reforms and implemented different policies to strengthen the nation, but the continuous borrowing which is not reflecting positively in the life of the common man has raised questions yet to be answered.

The renewed hope administration have bid for more time before assessing the performance of the government as 2years is too short to solve the inherited problems from the past government. With many critics of the government accusing the present Nigeria leadership of weaponizing poverty for the purpose of control, plotting to destroy other political parties for the purpose of achieving one party state, and suppressing freedom of expression through the social media bill.

While the APC as a party is celebrating 10years anniversary of it formation and in power, the people of Kwara North including Edu Local Government, Pategi Local government, Ifelodun Local Government and others are sleeping with eyes open while others are relocating due to the invasion by Fulani terrorist targeting vigilantes members and indigenous Yoruba people of Kwara state.

With special commendation of the First Lady's efforts in rehabilitating the abandoned National library through the fundraising appeal on her birthday, empowerment of rural women across states and other humanitarian initiatives emanating from her good office.

Rating the President Bola Tinubu administration by using Infrastructural projects, Foreign policy, Food security Initiatives, Revenue Generation and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) as performance index and yardstick, I will score the present government 6.0/10.
