The recent declaration that Nigeria's insecurity have reached the state of war by the Arewa consultative forum, is a confirmation of my long time assertion of persistent increase and deteriorating state of security in Nigeria.

.

While the mainstream media is downplaying the extent of this challenge, the violence that many believed was between herders and farmers have transformed into full scale invasion and destruction of lives and property, and raising tension between ethnic groups, also fueling mistrust between people of different faiths who have lived together for many decades.

Although, security experts and analysts have recommended state security and restructuring as the antidote to this ugly problem, but Nigerians are yet to see the implementation and many are yet to understand how the government wants to tackle the challenges confronting the established security institutions from multiple front and spreading into other parts of the country, with major occupation of the North Central states by terrorist affiliated to Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP), Lakurawa and other Fulani Islamic militants groups.

in Nassarawa, Niger, Kwara and others. Many have deserted their ancestral land and properties seeking refuge in nearby town and cities.

The sharp increase and widespread attacks on military formation and civilian settlement has been

term a protest attack against the intervention of the US Army activities in Nigeria, which many northern based activities and political leaders are against. The porous border have provided avenue for fighters in Sudan, Chad, Niger and other Sahel countries to troop into Nigeria with proliferated and sophisticated military weapons from other war torn countries.

The death of Brigadier General Buraimoh and other soldiers in Bornu state is a call for concern, if the people assigned to protect the towns and communities are not safe and prone to consistent attacks, then the insecurity have truly reached the state of war.
