Insecurity in Nigeria is taking another dimension as the virus of banditry and terrorism is spreading to peaceful zones and regions outside the northern Nigeria.
The daily reports of killings and other act of terrorism by bandits have taking political colouration, as security experts are linking the pattern of attack to charades sponsored by politicians importing mercenaries from the sahel countries (Chad, Niger, Mali) to undermine the government of Nigeria and make the country ungovernable through chaos, crimes, killings and land grabbing for resources control.
Scholars, political activists, NGO's and media practictioners are pointing to the new wave of violence as politically motivated to disrupt 2027 general election and a means to negotiate power back to the North in 2027.
In the run up to 2015 Presidential election, Boko Haram intensified attacks on Christians and Muslims population in the North to discredit the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
The attacks that originated from Bornu State spread to other Northern States like Yobe State, Adamawa State, Zamfara state with a bomb blast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) claiming lives of innocent citizens and other motorists in Nyanya bus terminal in Abuja.
Boko Haram also orchestrated the kidnapping of over 200 school girls in Chibok area of Bornu state, an action that led to global outcry and criticisms, which appealed to international organizations and humanitarian organizations to start the "BRING BACK OUR GIRLS" movement, which many opposition politicians and media houses used as a reason to term the government "INCOMPETENT AND CLUELESS".
The emotional reaction of the then first Lady madam Patience Jonathan who cried on national television chanting " THERE IS GOD O" hearing the extreme length of kidnapping and terrorism on innocent school children. Her words and reactions later turned to memes and jokes among entertainers in Nigeria.
The pressure of Insecurity and coalition of opposition with the support of President Barack Obama of the USA gave Muhammadu Buhari of All Progressive Congress (APC) victory in the election.
Did Insecurity End with Buhari as President? No, it escalated, given a new direction and strength
The current hardship Nigerians are facing with petrol price at ₦1350 per litre and cooking gas at ₦2400 per kg in cities, with insecurity spreading to peaceful parts of Southwest and other states in the NorthCentral have made many Nigerians concluded that President Bola Tinubu to be "INCOMPETENT AND CLUELESS".
While the government is investing in infrastructural development, advancing policies to strengthen each regions through development commission, increasing state and local government allocations, and also undertaking reforms to solve age long problems of the country, an average Nigerian cannot afford 3 square meals, hunger induced divorces increasing across households, school going children are not safe in classrooms, kidnapping for ransom is the new Oil well for quick riches with bandits doing giveaway on social media from accumulated ransom collected from victims, while graduates are seeing Sportybet and virtual betting games as their hope of daily bread and brighter tomorrow.
