While the good people of Ondo state are still counting the loss of a monarch killed few days ago by armed assailants mostly from the northern part of the country, another tragedy have struck in Uso community area of Owo Local Government.

The celestial church of Christ during the holy month of lent and early hours of worship, armed bandits attacked the church worshippers and kidnapped at least 5people which their whereabouts whether dead or alive currently unknown.

Security of lives and property is a primary function of a democratic government, but the reactive instead of proactive gesture of the Ondo state government calls for concern, and citizens are trying to know if the government is confused in tackling this security threat or the government is an accomplice for it silence and sometimes denial of vital security issues in the state.

While the current Ondo state government is unleashing mayhem on party members and stakeholders in the opposition, and it police officers enjoying the extortion of motorists from their checkpoints, terrorists are penetrating and carrying out bold attacks on innocent villagers, worshippers and travellers.

The people of Ondo state cannot rely solely on the state government for provision of security but the government should also remember that death and restlessness was never part of the promise made to the people when seeking their votes in the last electoral cycle.

The issue of security should not be politicised, as terrorist ravaging the state and hell-bent on bringing the sunshine state to it knees do not differentiate between APC or ADC or PDP during their attacks.
